Community

Community St. FrancisWe believe a commitment to the environment and a commitment to the local community are responsible business practices. Origami Catering donates under-expired perishables to Portland Rescue Mission, St. Francis Dining Hall, PCC Cascade Food Bank and University Park Adventist Community Services. Origami Catering has donated over $1,000,000 worth of perishables to food pantries and shelters around Portland.

Origami Catering is a mentor for the Jobs Plus program at PCC. As a mentor, Origami trains and prepares unemployed, disabled and low income families for the workforce. Two of Origami’s employees from the Jobs Plus program have gone on to open their own sushi businesses. Origami Catering is also a sponsor for Write Around Portland, a writing program for hospitals, youth shelters, senior centers, prisons, and treatment facilities.

We are grateful to have received support from Mercy Corp Northwest, Prosper Portland, and Micro Enterprise Services of Oregon (MESO), a small business development center providing small business support in the Portland Metro area. Contact us for information on how to get involved with any of these community outreach programs.

“Because of the donation from Origami Catering over 300 students a week have access to a free lunch. Portland Community College’s food pantry has become a beacon of hope for many students needing the energy to succeed in the classroom. We the student body, staff, and the administration are forever grateful for the donations. Thank you for keeping the minds of the students fed to better the future for the world.”
